Program Professional Framework
Production Planning & Scheduling in Petroleum Refineries
Program Overview
Refinery margins depend on choosing the right crude slate, running units at the right severity and blending products to specification without giving away quality. This programme covers the planning-to-scheduling chain: crude assay evaluation, linear programming (LP) models for monthly plans, translating plans into unit and tank schedules, product blending and inventory control, and plan-versus-actual reconciliation. Participants work with realistic refinery configurations and Gulf export markets to build plans that respect unit constraints, shipping windows and product specifications.

Training Methodology
Applied Project & Assessment
Applied Project
Participants develop a one-month plan and a ten-day schedule for a case refinery: crude selection rationale, LP results with key shadow prices, a tank and unit schedule, one product blend recipe meeting specification, and a contingency schedule for a simulated unit shutdown.
Assessment
Short diagnostic at the start, practical tasks linked to each learning outcome, and evaluation of the applied project against published criteria.
