Program Professional Framework
ورشة عمل الهندسة القيمية Value Engineering Workshop
Program Overview
Value engineering helps project owners achieve required functions at the lowest life-cycle cost without compromising quality, safety or performance, and is increasingly applied to public capital projects in the region. This workshop takes participants through the full value methodology job plan used by SAVE International: information gathering, function analysis using the FAST diagram, creative idea generation, evaluation, development of proposals and presentation to decision makers. Working in teams on a real or case project in construction, infrastructure or industrial facilities, participants practise life-cycle cost analysis and learn how to run and facilitate a VE study.
Learning Outcomes
- ✓Define project functions using verb-noun descriptions and build a FAST diagram.
- ✓Calculate function cost and value indices to identify low-value elements of a design.
- ✓Generate and screen alternative ideas using structured creativity techniques.
- ✓Evaluate alternatives using weighted criteria and life-cycle cost analysis.
- ✓Develop value proposals with cost savings, risks and implementation requirements.
- ✓Plan and facilitate a VE workshop with the right team, timing and deliverables.
Target Audience
- Project managers and design managers

Training Methodology
Applied Project & Assessment
Applied Project
Teams conduct a mini VE study on a real or case project: function analysis with a FAST diagram, alternative generation and evaluation, life-cycle cost comparison and a final value proposal presentation.
Assessment
Short diagnostic at the start, practical tasks linked to each learning outcome, and evaluation of the applied project against published criteria.
