Program Professional Framework
Formation Damage, Remediation & Well Stimulation
Program Overview
Formation damage can quietly cut well productivity long before reservoir pressure declines, and well-chosen stimulation can restore or exceed original performance. This course covers damage mechanisms from drilling, completion, production and injection, including fines migration, clay swelling, scale, emulsions, wax, asphaltenes and water blocking; skin analysis and candidate selection; and remediation through matrix acidising of carbonates and sandstones, acid fracturing, solvent and scale treatments, and diversion techniques. Treatment design, placement, execution and evaluation are illustrated with examples from carbonate reservoirs common in the Gulf.

Training Methodology
Applied Project & Assessment
Applied Project
Participants diagnose productivity decline in a provided Gulf carbonate well, quantify skin, select the remediation approach and design a stimulation programme with fluids, volumes, placement method and an evaluation plan.
Assessment
Short diagnostic at the start, practical tasks linked to each learning outcome, and evaluation of the applied project against published criteria.
