Program Professional Framework
Horizontal and Multilateral Wells: Completions and Stimulation
Program Overview
Long horizontal and multilateral wells deliver high reservoir contact only if the completion controls inflow and the stimulation reaches the whole lateral. This course focuses on completing and stimulating these wells: open hole and cased lateral completions, inflow control devices and autonomous ICDs for water and gas management, swellable and mechanical packers for compartmentalisation, multilateral junction completions and access, and stimulation methods including acid placement with coiled tubing, diversion, and multistage acid or proppant fracturing. Examples address heterogeneous carbonate laterals in Gulf fields, where early water breakthrough and uneven inflow are frequent concerns.

Training Methodology
Applied Project & Assessment
Applied Project
Participants design the completion and stimulation for a horizontal carbonate producer in a provided Gulf case, including lateral segmentation, ICD design, a packer plan, an acid treatment with diversion and an evaluation programme.
Assessment
Short diagnostic at the start, practical tasks linked to each learning outcome, and evaluation of the applied project against published criteria.
