Program Professional Framework
Process Control & Instrumentation
Program Overview
Reliable measurement and control keep process plants safe, stable and efficient, and instrument problems lie behind many trips and quality upsets. This course covers process measurement of pressure, temperature, flow and level; transmitters and analysers; control valve selection, sizing and diagnostics; feedback, cascade, ratio and feedforward control; PID tuning; DCS and PLC architectures; communication protocols such as HART and Foundation Fieldbus; safety instrumented systems under IEC 61511; alarm management following ISA-18.2; and P&ID symbols to ISA-5.1. Examples come from oil, gas and petrochemical units in the Gulf, including control loop troubleshooting cases.

Training Methodology
Applied Project & Assessment
Applied Project
Participants analyse a provided control loop dataset from a Gulf process unit, identify measurement, valve and tuning issues, propose an improved control strategy and tuning parameters, and document the required instrument changes on a marked-up P&ID.
Assessment
Short diagnostic at the start, practical tasks linked to each learning outcome, and evaluation of the applied project against published criteria.
