Organizational Design
- Define design criteria derived from strategy, required capabilities and operating constraints.
- Diagnose an existing structure using spans of control, layers, duplication and decision bottleneck analysis.
- Generate and evaluate structural options such as functional, divisional, matrix and hybrid models against design criteria.
- Allocate decision rights using a RAPID or RACI approach for key cross-functional decisions.
- Develop role profiles and an organisation chart with clear accountabilities for the preferred design.
- Plan the implementation of a new structure, including transition steps, communication and workforce impact.

Program Professional Framework
Organizational Design
Program Overview
Restructurings often redraw boxes on a chart without changing how work, decisions and accountability actually flow. This programme teaches a disciplined approach to designing organisations that deliver strategy: starting from strategic and capability requirements, assessing the current organisation, generating and evaluating structural options, defining decision rights, spans and layers, and designing roles and governance. It uses the Galbraith Star Model to align structure with processes, people, rewards and strategy, and addresses implementation, including workforce transition and nationalisation considerations in Gulf public and private organisations.
Learning Outcomes

Training Methodology
Applied Project & Assessment
Applied Project
Participants redesign a department or business unit of their organisation: design criteria, current-state diagnosis, two evaluated structural options, the recommended structure with decision rights and role profiles, and an implementation plan.
Assessment
Short diagnostic at the start, practical tasks linked to each learning outcome, and evaluation of the applied project against published criteria.
